  • Raising Voices Against Gender-Based Violence: Inspiring Change in Gatsibo District

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a global issue, undermining human rights and preventing individuals from reaching their full potential. As part of the global campaign marking the 16 Days of Activism against GBV, Family Care for Children, in partnership with Plan International Rwanda, is taking bold steps to inspire change and promote gender equality in Gatsibo District.

Empowering the Youth for a Better Tomorrow

In a dynamic initiative, representatives from 15 schools in Gatsibo District were trained to become champions of gender equality. These student leaders, equipped with knowledge and practical tools, are now leading the charge against harmful gender norms and practices in their communities. By focusing on education and awareness, this program emphasizes the pivotal role youth play in shaping a future free from violence and discrimination.

The Ripple Effect of Awareness

Awareness is the first step toward transformation. By engaging young minds in conversations about gender equality and GBV, the program fosters a deeper understanding of these issues and their far-reaching consequences. These newly trained champions are not just participants; they are catalysts for change, spreading the message within their schools, families, and communities.

A Collaborative Effort

The collaboration between Family Care for Children and Plan International Rwanda underscores the power of partnerships in addressing societal challenges. Together, they are creating safe spaces for dialogue, building capacity for advocacy, and amplifying the voices of those who demand a more equitable world.

Change Begins with Us

The 16 Days of Activism remind us that ending GBV is not just a campaign—it’s a commitment. Each of us has a role to play, whether by challenging stereotypes, supporting survivors, or advocating for policies that protect and empower all individuals.

Join the Movement

The efforts in Gatsibo District are a testament to the impact of grassroots activism and youth leadership. As we celebrate these champions of gender equality, let us also recommit to raising our voices against GBV in our own communities. Together, we can create a world where everyone is free to live, learn, and thrive without fear of violence or discrimination.

🌍 Change starts with awareness. Join the movement today!
